Radio Promotion
How Does It Work?
First we need to listen to your release in order to determine if it’s something we can work with to the formats we target. Send a copy of your release to our office. After reviewing your music, we will contact you regarding our recommendations for promotion.
Why Would I Need Promotion?
As unfortunate as it is, radio airplay is not a God-given right even for a great record. Radio stations receive hundreds of CDs every month with few of them ever getting heard by the programmers, let alone getting any airplay. We actively solicit radio for airplay and feedback, saving you the time and toil. Radio campaigns usually run 6–8 weeks. Feedback from radio is provided to you in detailed weekly reports that are pulled from our website.
What Type of Stations Do You Promote To?
We target college radio, AAA, non-commercial, NPR, public radio, and commercial-specialty shows. These radio formats encompass a wide range of musical genres ranging from esoteric indie rock and singer-songwriter pop to boomin’ turntablist hip-hop and slinky electronic music. We are adept at taking music of nearly every musical stripe to radio.
Who Have You Worked With?
We’ve worked with labels, majors and independents, management firms, and unsigned artists alike. Our client roster can be found under “CLIENTS” in the radio section.
What Do I/We Need to Start?
We need your music as .wav files, hi-res cover art, and your bio. If you have 150 hard copies of your music, that can be helpful. We would prefer to go all digital, but if you have some CDs we can definitely put them to good use.
We Are Setting Up Tour Dates, What Can You Do for Me/Us?
Our tour support promotion can provide the necessary groundwork that would ensure advance exposure in your pending tour markets.
What’s the Cost?
Our rate varies according to the scope and type of campaign we execute. Consider what you have already spent for recording, packaging, and ancillary cost and carry that through to promotion.
How Do I Get Music to You?
Email us a link to your music at info@www.planetarygroup.com, a bio (if available), and cover letter.
Alternatively, feel free to also send hard copy submissions of a CD, your bio, and cover letter to:

Working with Planetary has been awesome! Their weekly reports are super detailed and make it easy to track how the promo is doing. They have been super supportive and great and explaining the data we get every week! This has been super helpful as a first timer! I will personally be back!

Worked with Planetary on our first full length album on a US/CAN radio campaign. The album did well, charted all over North American stations and we got to make some in roads for interviews and live sessions. The weekly reports were very helpful as well.

I just finished an 8 week campaign with The Planetary Group. The entire team was professional, competent and friendly to work with. The campaign was very effective in getting my music very significant airplay with medium rotation on multiple station and even as high as a top 10 rotation.
